Consistency:
Import a file which you have previously uploaded by FTP into the directory _yourshop. Make sure that any file referenced in your import is already on the server in the relevant directory that is the pictures in _images, the attachments in _includes, and the downloads in _downloads.
Attributes:
First make an export, choosing all attributes to see how they appear. Then proceed to creating your import file.
Import:
Not all attributes are necessary to create a new product. YourShop will inform you of the attributes needed, if you have not included them.
Update:
YourShop updates an item if it is already on the server.
Incremental update:
In order to save time and work efficiently, only mention the attributes you would like to change. For example, if you update your stock daily, then keep the following attributes in your file:
ida stock stockt
ISBN-453 35 +
ISBN-1894 26 +
...
where stockt equals the + sign, which means "add to stock". Do not keep the attribute imgn in your file unless you actually want to import pictures, as YourShop will recreate the thumbnails of all mentioned pictures.
Speed:
Import may be very slow and can take ages. Do not stop the process.
Note:
Error is possible. Several attributes are not necessary for every shop. So if you mention an attribute but do not provide its value, you will delete the attributes' value on your site.
